Discovering the world together
At Lili's Early Learning Centre we believe that one of the greatest gifts we can give children is an early appreciation of the world around them. The cultures, stories, traditions and people that make up our global community are rich, diverse and endlessly fascinating — and we want our children to experience that wonder from the very beginning.
That is why we created Lili's Little Globetrotters.
What is Lili's Little Globetrotters?
Lili's Little Globetrotters is our dedicated cultural enrichment program running every Thursday across all rooms at our Hoppers Crossing centre. Each week a member of our educator team shares an activity inspired by their own cultural background, giving children a genuine, lived-in window into the world's diversity.
Activities vary from week to week and might include traditional songs and music, cooking and tasting experiences, dancing, storytelling, art and craft, language exploration and more. Every experience is age-appropriate, hands on and delivered with the kind of authenticity that only comes from someone sharing their own culture and heritage.
Why it matters
Research consistently shows that children who are exposed to diverse cultures and perspectives from an early age develop stronger empathy, curiosity and social skills. At Lili's we are lucky to have an extraordinarily diverse educator team representing a wide range of cultural backgrounds, and Lili's Little Globetrotters is our way of celebrating that diversity and sharing it with the children and families in our care.
For the children at Lili's, Thursdays are something special. It is the day they might learn a new song in a language they have never heard before, taste a dish from the other side of the world, or listen to a story passed down through generations. These are the kinds of experiences that stay with children long after they have grown up.
How it works
Every Thursday one of our educators takes the lead, planning and delivering a cultural activity for the children in their room. A dedicated support staff member is organised to cover the room while the activity is being prepared, so everything runs smoothly and every child gets to fully participate.
The program runs across our Nursery, Toddler, Pre-Kinder and Kinder rooms, with activities tailored to each age group and developmental stage.
A program built on the strengths of our team
What makes Lili's Little Globetrotters so special is that it comes directly from the people who work here. Our educators bring their own backgrounds, traditions and stories into the centre every single Thursday, creating a program that is genuine, personal and constantly evolving. No two Thursdays are ever quite the same.
Our centre community reflects the incredible diversity of Hoppers Crossing and Melbourne's west, and we are proud to celebrate that every single week.
