Welcome to our Kinder Room
For children 4 to 5 years
At Lili’s Early Learning Centre Hoppers Crossing, our Kindergarten Room supports children aged 4 to 5 years as they prepare for primary school. Through a government-approved, play-based program, we focus on building confidence, independence and the foundational skills needed for lifelong learning.
Supporting school readiness at Lili’s Early Learning Centre Hoppers Crossing
Our Kindergarten program is delivered by a bachelor-qualified early childhood teacher and follows the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework. As part of the Free Kinder initiative in Victoria, eligible families can access government-funded hours, making quality kindergarten more accessible for local families. Our team can help guide you through your eligibility and funding options.
Building skills through play, exploration and relationships
Every day in our Kindergarten Room, children are encouraged to explore ideas, solve problems, and express themselves creatively. Our play-based approach supports early literacy, numeracy, language development and social confidence through experiences such as:
Writing and recognising their name
Developing early maths concepts through songs, games and scavenger hunts
Story time, puppetry and group reading to foster a love of books
Listening and communication games that build vocabulary and confidence
Collaborative group learning and imaginative role play
Music, movement and expressive art sessions
Outdoor learning, gardening and environmental exploration
Cooking activities where children prepare and enjoy their own creations
Children also take part in sports sessions with fun, energetic coaches who help develop coordination, persistence, teamwork and resilience. These daily routines and experiences support independence, friendships and a readiness for the challenges of school.
A holistic program tailored to each child’s development
Our curriculum is based on each child’s developmental profile and includes experiences across:
Fine and gross motor development
Social and emotional learning
Cognitive and problem-solving skills
Language, literacy and communication
Creative and dramatic play
Science experiments and discovery-based learning
Cultural and environmental exploration
Children are encouraged to take initiative in their learning and explore topics that reflect their interests and home experiences, helping them build a strong sense of belonging and identity.
Cultural understanding and community connection
We integrate cultural learning into our daily activities, fostering awareness of Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and the cultural diversity of our local community. Celebrations such as Harmony Day, Holi Festival and NAIDOC Week provide opportunities to learn about language, history, geography and traditions from around the world.
Children also enjoy engaging excursions such as visits to the Williamstown Botanical Gardens, and incursions with community heroes like Victoria Police, local dentists, and cultural groups such as African drumming. These connections enrich children’s understanding of their world and strengthen their respect, empathy and curiosity.
