S.I.D.S

At Lili’s Early Learning , to reduce the risk of S.I.D.S, parents will be provided with current information from the ‘National SIDS Council of Australia.’

Staff will place a baby on their back to sleep unless otherwise requested in writing by a medical practitioner.

No soft toys will be placed in the cot unless the child does not settle.

Once asleep the toy will be removed. However, a comfort toy may be present with verbal parental permission.

Staff enter the cot room every five minutes to physically check all sleeping babies and their positioning in the cot.

Staff ensure that they position the baby’s feet at the bottom of the cot.

Staff use layers of light bedding. Doonas, thick quilts; pillows of any size and cot bumpers in cot are not recommended or used.
